Sustainability at PocketBook - People

Adapting the reading experience to individual needs

People have different reading preferences and habits.. Depending on the model, PocketBook e-readers therefore offer a range of settings and functions that allow the display and operation of the device to be adapted to individual needs.

Available functions depend on the device, file format and installed software.

Choose the right display size

PocketBook e-readers are available in a range of sizes.

A compact device is easy to carry when travelling , while a larger display provides more space for non-fiction books, documents, comics and content with many illustrations.

Adjust the font and text size

PocketBook e-readers allow you to adjust the font, its size, line spacing, and page margins.

This makes it possible to adapt the display to personal reading preferences and needs. On supported devices and with compatible file formats, the OpenDyslexic font is also available.

Available settings may vary depending on the e-book format and device model.

Read in portrait or landscape mode

On models with a position sensor, the page  can match the device orientation.

Landscape mode is essential on smaller displays or when reading documents with longer lines of text.

On devices with customisable buttons, the controls can also be adapted to personal preferences.

Use Text-to-Speech

Selected PocketBook models support Text-to-Speech. This function reads text aloud using a computer-generated voice.

It can be useful if the user needs to switch between reading and listening, continuing from the same reading position. Depending on the model, the language, voice and reading speed can be adjusted.

Text-to-Speech is available on selected PocketBook models and for selected e-book formats. Details can be found in the technical specifications of the individual model.

Adjust the frontlight

Many PocketBook models feature a frontlight.

Devices with SMARTlight also allow the colour temperature of the light to be adjusted.Brightness and light colour can therefore be adapted automatically according to the time of day or manually  to match personal preferences.

Use Bluetooth accessories

Compatible accessories can be used with selected e-readers that support Bluetooth.

Depending on the model, a compatible remote control can be used to turn pages without having to hold the e-reader.

Compatibility information can be found in the description of the relevant device and accessory.

Engagement and cooperation

Supporting bands and orchestras

In cooperation with Marschpat, PocketBook supports bands and orchestras that use PocketBook e-readers as digital marching music books. The Marschpat app optimises the display of sheet music on PocketBook e-readers for use while marching and during performances.

Supporting children in Ukraine

In recent years, PocketBook has chosen not to send Christmas gifts to friends and business partners. Instead, we have donated the funds allocated for these gifts to UNICEF to support children in Ukraine.
