Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement is placed on our website in order to comply with the Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (European Accessibility Act).
This law ensures that websites, products, and services are usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
Measures to support accessibility
PocketBook takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of PocketBook store:
- Include accessibility throughout our internal policies – accessibility is built into our rules and ways of working, and is integrated to our company values.
- Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices – when we choose tools or services, we check they support accessibility.
- Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities – dedicated people in our team are responsible for making sure standards are met.
- Integrated a mandatory accessibility compliance checklist in the internal policy development template – every new policy must pass a simple checklist to ensure it meets accessibility rules.
- Ensured all internal policies are published in accessible formats – our documents can be easily read with assistive technologies like screen readers.
- Provided resources or guidance to vendors on meeting accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, inclusive design) – we help our partners follow the same standards so accessibility is consistent.
- Tracked and report progress on accessibility goals quarterly – we check progress every three months to keep ourselves on track.
- Established policies and processes to prevent and address accessibility issues – if a problem arises, we have clear steps to fix it quickly.
- Performed internal audit on digital products – we regularly test our website and apps to see if they are accessible.
- Assigned and trained ambassador in the development department to advocate and support accessibility practices – a dedicated person promotes accessibility inside the team
- Integrate accessibility checks in release cycles, inc. code review and QA – we check accessibility before new features or updates are published
- Introduce all team members to accessibility principles during onboarding – everyone joining the company learns the basics of accessibility from the start.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. PocketBook store is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Our store meets most of the important accessibility standards.
Additional accessibility considerations
Although the goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, Level AAA Success Criteria for most of Perceivable and Operable requirements also was applied.
This means we didn’t just stop at the minimum required rules – we applied some of the highest standards where possible.
