"For Bread" - is a work by the Polish writer, Nobel Prize in Literature Winner H. Sienkiewicz (1846 - 1916). The short story was written in 1880. In the early novellas by the prose writer there is a lot of lyricism, intimacy and hidden sadness. He repeatedly tells about the fate, cruelly jeering the destitute and weak people ("Janko the Musician", "For Bread", "Bart the Conqueror").
