The Gambler

This short novel tells the story of Alexey Ivanovitch, a young tutor working in the household of an imperious Russian general. It is a dark story, hard to put down, told in true Dostoyevsky style. Alexey has an intense and inescapable addiction to gambling that looks set to ruin him.
