Thankful Blossom

Morristown, the winter of 1780: Washington's army is freezing and mutinous, a Jersey farmer's daughter is courted by two officers, and somebody is passing information. Harte made the California gold rush into literature and gave America its gamblers and its snowbound cabins; here he leaves the West for the Revolution, and the cold is as convincing as anything in his mining camps.
