Gargantua and Pantagruel

In front of you is the most significant work of the epoch of French Renaissance - the satirical novel by François Rabelais titled "gargantua and Pantagruel". Created on a rich and manifold folkloric basis, the novel is narrative of two giants - a father and a son. Rabelais artistically makes mockery of human vices, the social pattern of his day, and, in particular - the church and priesthood.
