Vissarion Belinsky is a vivid representative of Russian critical thought of the 19th century. He became the founder of this art movement in Russia. The writer supported Westernist ideas and was ahead of contemporary bourgeois thought. The highest appreciation of his works was awarded years after the death of the author.
