A biography of Gottfried Nagel (1876–1944), last president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prussia, the »Old Lutherans«. The Nazi regime tried to isolate independent churches, but Nagel sought ways to keep connected, both within his church as well as continuing his national and international contacts with other Lutheran churches.
