Thérèse of Lisieux (1873-1897), also known as Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, was a French Catholic Discalced Carmelite nun widely popular in modern times. Therese is she is one of the most popular saints in the church's history and celebrated almost as Francis of Assisi. Being born to a Catholic family, Therese and all her sisters decided to become nuns early. Therese's writings and her way of life were very popular in her times, and she was canonized 28 years after her death. The day of Therese is celebrated on October 1st.
