Rochester

"Rochester" is a biographical work on the life of John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester. The 17th century English nobleman was a poet and courtier of King Charles II's Restoration court. Famed for his antics at court and his rakish lifestyle, he was nevertheless a celebrated poet. During his lifetime, Rochester was best known for his book 'A Satyr Against Reason and Mankind', and it remains among his best-known works today. Author Charles Williams takes an in depth look at his personal life, recounting the events that wrought much scandal in the court of Charles II.
