Sparkling sugar on old crackers
Marzipan and cinnamon treats
From when I was young and free
Linger in my daydreaming
From last night.
I was sitting on the velvet green couch
The same couch where you sat
With your head close to mine
When we were just little kids
Learning what love is
In a world of Christmas decorations.
Now, in my older mind
The smells and sights of winter holidays
Sound distant, and somewhat strange,
As I learned that sometimes
Love comes just to be set free,
After a while,
So it can fly away and transform
In many of its other forms
And cuddle in the hearts
Of other people
that are looking for it.

Flurries descending on my rooftop
From miles and miles away
Are finding their final resting place
Where they can form a cozy blanket
For the red roof houses
To look pretty, close to Christmas time.
Most of the people that walk on the street
In front of my house
Pass joyfully, unaware of their descent
Singing and laughing out loud
And joking about the coffee place
Down the street
Where they will finally rest their tired feet
From all that walk in the city.
Only in the distance
Lights are seen in all the other houses
Illuminating the dark
And creating a colorful
landscape of love.

Bits and pieces
Long forgotten puzzles
Maps of green grass
Countries
And books for children
Pineapple and coffee scent
And fresh print pages
Feel the air
Of my favorite book shop
Where I occasionally go
To browse the latest releases
Spending my valuable time
In the world of letters
And the fresh smell of ink.
I feel transported
In a world where
Heroes and characters
Join together
To bring us a better world
filled with imagination and rose perfume.

A saxophone
An old trumpet
And a dark red
Fedora hat
Lie on a table
In the museum
Of my memories
Where dust
Had accumulated
Overtime
To form what today is
An image of the reality
Which can’t be denied,
A snapshot of a reality
That once was
