Vitamin D is the clock generator for cell division. The active vitamin D in the blood tells the cells when to divide and when not. Metaphorically speaking, vitamin D is, so to speak, the general in war, who commands his soldiers when and where they should go on missions. If the general is missing, that is, the vitamin D in the blood, the soldiers wander aimlessly around and cannot carry out a complete attack.
Anyone who thinks they can stay healthy without sufficient vitamin D is wrong. All biological beings have been controlled by the hormone vitamin D since the beginning of all life on earth.
It is believed that the dinosaurs became extinct because the volcanic cloudy sky did not let the sun through and the subsequent vitamin D deficiency caused the eggshells to soften, so that they broke under their own weight.
And it is believed that the Vikings became extinct on Greenland because they cultivated crops and raised cattle. This led to a massive vitamin D deficiency so far north that the women's pelvis became too narrow for giving birth.
The Inuit, on the other hand, were able to survive on Greenland because they ate large quantities of fish every day, which was rich in vitamin D.
Now that we as modern humans neither choke down cod liver oil nor eat a large portion of fatty sea fish every other day, we have unwittingly generated many of our civilization's diseases ourselves. To date, over 100 diseases are known to be caused by vitamin D deficiency. You will find a list of the common and avoidable diseases at the end of this book.
Our food contains such small amounts of vitamin D that it is not even close to sufficient. Just as a thought, if you wanted to get your vitamin D via "natural" foods, you would need either 30 eggs a day or 5 litres of milk or 1 kilogram of tuna or 1 tablespoon of cod liver oil per day.
The daily spoonful of cod-liver oil was common in Europe until around 1970, and the disgusting procedure is made the subject of old black and white films or the children's book "Heidi".
Our skin can produce vitamin D itself, which unfortunately is not enough if you live north of Rome/Barcelona. A sufficient supply of vitamin D from the sun is almost impossible because
Depending on age and weight, different amounts of vitamin D are required to provide protection or healing. You will find the appropriate dosage for your age in the following chapters.
As a minimum starting requirement you will need vitamin D and magnesium. Both you can only buy online in the necessary potency and quality. You will find help for choosing the right products in the chapter "Shopping guide".
As soon as you have your selected food supplements together, you start a vitamin D setup as a basis BEFORE the actual therapy. This means that you have a special dosage "necessary" for the first 4 days. If you were to start right away with the amount of vitamin D you will need later to maintain your healthy vitamin D level, it would take a whole year for your vitamin D level to rise to the desired and healthy level.
That's no problem. An adult consumes at least 2000 IU per day. Leave your vitamin D completely off for two to three weeks and then continue taking it as usual.
There is no possibility of poisoning with vitamin D. There is no real overdose until an adult takes 300,000 IU a day for a full three weeks. That would be 6 million IU in total. That would mean that someone would take 300 of the 20,000 IU vitamin D tablets recommended here.
The consequences of an overdose are astonishing: It causes exactly the same problems as a vitamin D deficiency, for example weak immune system, bone softening, allergies, etc.
